British Young Pilots (BYP) was established in 2023 with a mission to provide young people with the opportunity to experience flight and learn about aviation. Whilst for some, this will be a route into an exciting and fulfilling career, our core aim is really to inspire the next generation to take an interest in aviation and boost self-esteem and confidence at the same time.

about british young pilots

British Young Pilots was created to make aviation more accessible to young people. Through weekend clubs, school programmes, holiday clubs, online clubs and flight experiences, students are introduced to real aviation concepts in an inspiring and age-appropriate environment led by experienced pilots and aviation professionals. Today, BYP operates across 60+ locations nationwide, helping young people build confidence, technical understanding, teamwork, and a genuine connection to aviation.

British Young Pilots introduces young people aged 11–16 to aviation through pilot-led teaching, simulator training, structured progression, and optional real flight experiences across the UK.

why bYP

For many young people, aviation can feel distant, something admired from behind airport windows or seen only in films and documentaries. BYP was built to change that. Our goal is to open the aviation world to the next generation by creating experiences that are immersive, structured, and genuinely inspiring.

“Flying changes lives. BYP was created to give young people the opportunity to experience aviation in a way that feels real, exciting, and accessible.”
- Patrick Tame, Founder
